‘Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City’ Film Reboot Reveals First Trailer

2 min read

With a new Netflix series being put together already, Constantin Films previously announced their plans ready to get their reboot film series underway as the original films did a whole lot of cash over the years. The new is going by the name Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City as a new trailer has dropped for it now. The film has writer/director Johannes Roberts on board for it and are intending to be faithful to the original survival horror games, which the trailer certainly seems like it’s doing with some iconic locations and moments, and just the name itself. The film is now set for a November 24th, 2021 release in theaters only.

The cast includes:

  • Kaya Scodelario as Claire Redfield
  • Hannah John-Kamen as Jill Valentine
  • Robbie Amell as Chris Redfield
  • Tom Hopper as Albert Wesker
  • Avan Jogia as Leon S. Kennedy
  • Neal McDonough as William Birkin
  • Donal Logue as Brian Irons
  • Chad Rook
  • Lily Gao

“With this movie, I really wanted to go back to the original first two games and re-create the terrifying visceral experience I had when I first played them whilst at the same time telling a grounded human story about a small dying American town that feels both relatable and relevant to today’s audiences,” said writer-director Johannes Roberts back in 2020.

Said franchise producer Robert Kulzer, “After a dozen games, six live-action movies and hundreds of pages of fan fiction, we felt compelled to return to the year 1998, to explore the secrets hidden in the walls of the Spenser Mansion and Raccoon City.

Plot Concept: In the once booming home of the pharmaceutical giant Umbrella Corporation, Raccoon City is now a dying Midwestern town. The company’s exodus left the city a wasteland…with great evil brewing below the surface. When that evil is unleashed, the townspeople are forever…changed…and a small group of survivors must work together to uncover the truth behind Umbrella and make it through the night.
