The anime adaptation of the My Senpai is Annoying manga by Shiro Manta was announced back in the summer of 2020 and it’s now lined up for an October 9th, 2021 debut. With that closing in, the official site is doing some new promotion and has rolled out a teaser spot for the character of Sōta Kazama as played by Reio Tsuchida.

Funimation recently confirmed their pickup of the series for streaming. The announcement is devoid of any information about premiere dates, regional availability, or if it’ll be picked up by their partners such as Wakanim, AnimeLab, or Funimation UK/IRE.

Ryota Itoh is directing it based on the scripts overseen by Yoshimi Narita. Shigemitsu Abe is on board as the character designer with Doga Kobo set for the animation production.

The Japanese cast includes:

  • Tomori Kusunoki as Futaba Igarashi
  • Shunsuke Takeuchi as Harumi Takeda
  • Saori Hayami as Tōko Sakurai, a co-worker
  • Reiō Tsuchida as Sōta Kazama, a co-worker
  • Reina Aoyama as Natsumi Kurobe, Igarashi’s childhood friend
  • Yui Horie as Yūto Sakurai, Tōko’s little brother
  • Aoi Koga as Mona Tsukishiro, a co-worker
  • Akio Otsuka as Grandpa
  • Yutaka Aoyama as Boss
  • Yuta Odagaki as Ooishi
  • Takayuki Kondo as Hijikata

The series features the opening with “Annoying!” San-san Weel!” while Yui Hori is handling the ending theme song, “Niji ga Kakaru made no Hanashi.”

The manga by Shiro Mata began in 2017 through pixiv Comic and has had six volumes put to print so far through Ichinjinsha.

Plot Concept: Igarashi is a hardworking young office lady. Takeda, the senpai above her at work, annoys her constantly–and yet she finds herself growing closer to him. Every day is filled with comic mishaps and romantic moments as Igarashi tries to balance work, life, and love. This full-color manga–which started its life as a webcomic–is sure to charm audiences of workplace comedies like Aggretsuko and The Office!
