The spring 2018 anime series Lupin the Third: Part V delighted a lot of fans overall and gave us a good taste of a modern TV run for the property. Back in November 2020, we were teased about some special plans being put into place for the 50th-anniversary of the property and which has resulted in this Part VI work that will debut on October 9th, 2021.
With that closing in along with the fall season in general, a new twist has entered the picture. With there being a lot of theater time availability and attempts to draw people back to the cinema, TMS Entertainment and Sentai Filmworks are doing a special showing of the series. Set for an October 22nd to 28th showcase in select theaters, they’ll show the first two episodes subtitled plus the first episode dubbed on the big screen.
The show is set with Eiji Suganuma as the director working from the series composition by Takahiro Ohkura. Hiroki Marafuji is on board with the character designs and Yuji Ohno handling the music. TMS Entertainment is once again backing the animation production.
Sentai Filmworks previously revealed that they’ve picked up the rights to the show and will be streaming it through select outlets. Details regarding streaming will come later but they picked up rights for it in North America, Australia, New Zealand, Scandinavia, and all Nordic Countries.
The Japanese cast from the most recent series includes Daisuke Namikawa as Goemon Ishikawa, Kanichi Kurita as Arsene Lupin III, Kiyoshi Kobayashi (for episode 0) and Akio Ohtsuka as Daisuke Jigen, Kouichi Yamadera as Inspector Zenigata, Miyuki Sawashiro as Fujiko Mine, Inori Minase as Ami Enan, Kenjiro Tsuda as Albert Dandorojii, and Nobunaga Shimazaki as Gorō Yadagarasu.
