Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers):
This book wants to sell you on it being isekai but it strays from the path of the typical isekai. Sure it has the teenage boy, Masaharu Oka, who was hit by a truck and sent to a new world. Joining him is Oka Sanai, a samurai with a heart of trash. These two don’t come back in their bodies but their spirits possess the baby Bard. Bard picks up some unsavory traits from these two individuals. Bard’s love of money comes from Oka Sanai. Masaharu Oka is an otaku whose fetish includes wanting to touch female animal ears.
It has a lovable cast of characters who want the best for Bard in their own quirky manner. His mother, Maggot, is a no-holds warrior who will do everything with brute strength. Her mere presence will send people quaking in fear. The maid, Seillune, will do her best to cover up for Bard’s absurd but money-making operations. And then you have his partner in crime, Selina, whose love for money surpasses that of Bard and Oka Sanai and is thrilled with Bard’s many ideas for growing a successful business enterprise. Unfortunately, she has a physical trait that is Bard’s second lust, cat ears. All the cat ears must not go untouched. It will only bring untold misery to Selina as Bard seeks out the cat ears.
There needed to be more done with the two spirits possessing Bard. As Bard grows up, the two spirits play a limited role in his development. Masaharu Oka and Oka Sanai Bard know of the other world concepts of business and farming but it’s never revealed how he got this knowledge. The only way he could have known of it was by having the two spirits inform him but this is never shown. It could be quite a riot if Bard was shown interacting with these two and learning to accept their mysterious ways.
There was just one scene that was used to display how the two spirits influence Bard. Bard goes out to save two of his comrades who were taken by an invading army. His strength isn’t enough to deal with them and is beaten to a pulp. The two spirits encourage him to stand up but there only so far he can go on his own. Oka Sanai takes matters into his own hands and possesses Bard’s body to fend them off. This scene can be used to have Bard progress if the writer just lets him interact with the other two spirits inside his body. It’s clear that they have something to offer to Bard but they need a chance to show it off.
In Summary:
Multi Mind Mayhem Isekai Tensei Soudokuki variates from the typical isekai fashion for a delightful journey. Every character will bring an amusing laugh as you wonder how they all came to be together. It’s a bit rough around the edges but there is something majestic with this manga waiting to break out. It needs to decide what it wants to do with the isekai ghosts whose roles are still undetermined. This can be this series defining strength but right now it’s a weakness that it needs to overcome.
