The folks at Frontier works have picked up a series from a few years back that never saw a Blu-ray release with Fushigiboshi no Futagohime. The show was one that appears to have been produced on the cusp as it’s only getting an SDBD release for its two seasons as two separate sets, each season with 51 and 52 episodes respectively. They’re scheduled for a November 24th, 2021 and December 22nd, 2021 release priced at 27,000 yen each.

The 2005 and 2006 anime series had Junichi Sato as the chief director with Shougo Kawamoto as the director working from scripts overseen by Rika Nakase. Akemi Kobayashi and Hiroko Kazuki worked on the character designs with Hal Film Maker handling the animation production.

The Japanese cast includes Megumi Kojima as Fine, Yuko Goto as Rain, Junko Minagawa as Eclipse/Shade, Satomi Koorogi as Pumo, and Tetsuya Kakihara as Bright.

Plot Concept: In the hollow Mysterious Planet, seven kingdoms co-exist, all of them lit by the Sun’s Blessing from the Kingdom of the Sun, in the middle of the planet. The light of the core sun is necessary for the continued existence of all the kingdoms. Yet, something is causing the Sun’s Blessing to weaken. If something isn’t done, it will be the end of life in the Mysterious Planet. Fortunately, the twin princesses of the Sun Kingdom, Fine and Rain, have been endowed with the magic of the Prominence, and are looking for a way to fix things.
