A new original anime project is in our future as Gyakuten Sekai no Denchi Shōjo had its official site go live back in April. The series literally translates as Turnabout World’s Battery Girl. While we still wait for a premiere date out of Japan, we learned earlier this week that Funimation picked up the series for simulcast under the name RUMBLE GARANDOLL! Now, the cast has expanded significantly as eleven more members have been revealed below.
The project has Masaomi Ando directing with Makoto Uezu handling the series scripts. Akio Watanabe is on board as the character designer with Lerche handling the production.
Now, the official site has updated with the Japanese cast as well as the first promotional video and a new fully fleshed-out key visual.
The Japanese cast includes:
- Seiichirō Yamashita as Hosomichi Kudō
- Ai Fairouz as Rin Akagi
- Aina Suzuki as Yuki Aoba
- Shiori Izawa as Misa Kuroki
The newly added cast includes:
- Takuma Terashima as Akatsuki Shinonome
- Rina Hidaka as Hayate Makami
- Yukiyo Fujii as Musashi Sashigami
- Shino Shimoji as Yakumo Kamizuru
- Tomokazu Sugita as Balzac Yamada
- Aki Toyosaki as Mimi Kagurazaka
- Takamitsu Fukuchi as Anjū Munakata
- Kenichirō Matsuda as Ukai
- Takahiro Mizushima as Megane
- Shouta Hayama as Cap
- Hayato Kaneko as Pocha
The series will feature the opening theme song “Fever Dreamer” by Mia REGINA while the ending theme song “Reverse-Rebirth” is being performed by Aina Suzuki.

Plot Concept: Set in 2019, just before the change in historical eras for Japan. A rift to another dimension suddenly opened in the skies above, revealing a “turnabout” alternate world called “Shinkoku Nippon.” This parallel version of Japan maintained its militarism and remains stuck in the Showa era. Shinkoku Nippon invaded our Japan with its “Genmu” gas weapons (on which our own modern weapons have no effect) and giant humanoid “Garan” weapons. The invaders immediately took over our government and all but conquered Japan. As a result, our Japan never ushered in the Reiwa era.
A decade later, our Japan has been revamped as Genkoku Nippon, a puppet state of Shinkoku Nippon. Under harsh censorship, the once thriving manga, anime, idol, and similar sub-cultures have completely died off … or so it seemed.
