The multimedia project Selection Project previously announced that a TV anime component is coming for it and they rolled out a pretty good bit of material regarding it since its announcement back in early 2020. With Funimation picking up the series previously, the arrival of a third promotional video out of Japan has revealed an October 1st, 2021 release date. It’ll be shown on a lot of networks in Japan on that day and in the following days as it spreads across regions.

The series will be directed by Daisuke Hiramaki based on the scripts by Yuya Takahashi. Kanna Hirayama is working on the character designs while Doga Kobo is handling the animation production and Dandelion Animation studio on the CG animation.

The Japanese cast includes Hinaki Yano as Suzune Miyama (Candidate from North Kanto Region), Saku Mizuno as Rena Hananoi (South Kanto), Nozomi Nagumo as Hiromi Hamaguri (Kinki), Ruri Arai as Nagisa Imau (Shikoku), Hina Youmiya as Nodoka Yagi (Hokkaido), Yuka Iwahashi as Ao Yodogawa (Chugoku), Mizuna Shirakawa as Uta Koizumi, Miharu Hanai as Shiori Yamaga, Shino Shimoji as Mako Touma, Daisuke Ono as Sumipanda, and Saori Hayami as Akari Amasawa.

Plot Concept: Suzune Miyama wishes to be an idol like Akari Amazawa, an idol who got her start through the Selection Project reality show. Suzune had been stricken with illness since she was little, but she listened to Akari’s music often in her hospital room. Akari’s voice gave Suzune smiles and courage, which encouraged Suzune to want to inspire others in the same way. In her last summer of junior high, Suzune decides to enter the seventh Selection Project to make her dreams come true.
