The summer 2018 series Encouragement of Climb: Third Season has come and gone but it appears that there’s a new project on the horizon. The Comic Earth Star Twitter account posted a tease that there’s more coming for the property at the end of 2019 but it’s been largely quiet since then. Recently, the official site has revealed that the next project is a new TV series called Encouragement of Climb: Next Summit and it looks to be bringing back the main staff and cast for it. The manga has been ongoing since it began in 2011 and has twenty volumes to its name now, leaving plenty of material to work with.

The official site has dropped a new two-minute promotional video to show off the series, which confirms a 2022 debut, but also makes it clear that the main cast are coming back for it. We also have a new character with Emiri Iwai on board to play Koharu. Check out the promo below!

Yusuke Yamamoto worked as the director and on the series composition for the first two seasons and is back for more as is Yusuke Matsuo who served as the character designer and chief animation director. 8bit is handling the animation production once again as well, which puts all the right pieces of the puzzle back together.

The Japanese cast includes Kana Asumi as Hinata Kuraue, Yuka Iguchi as Aoi Yukimura, Nao Tōyama as Honoka Kurosaki, Yōko Hikasa as Kaede Saitō, and Yui Ogura as Kokona Aoba.

Yuka Iguchi (Aoi), Kana Asumi (Hinata), Yōko Hikasa (Kaede), and Yui Ogura (Kokona) performed the opening theme “Chiheisen Stride” (Horizon Stride) in character. With the ending, Yuka Iguchi (Aoi), Kana Asumi (Hinata) handled that one in character with  “Irochigai no Tsubasa” as the title.

The original manga from Siro began back in 2011 in Comic Earth Star and has twenty volumes released so far. Crunchyroll simulcast all three seasons but no home video pickups were ever made.

Check out the official site and Twitter.

Plot concept: Aoi and Hinata are childhood friends. Aoi prefers staying indoors and is afraid of heights, whereas Hinata is outgoing and loves mountaineering. They both decide to climb a mountain in order to see a sunrise they saw together when they were younger.
