Are You Guys Ready, You Hellions?

We learned back in February 2021 that Discotek Media is making a foray into the world of Saiyuki as they’ve picked up the rights to Saiyuki Reload. The 2003 series was originally released by Geneon Entertainment with its twenty-five-episode run brought out in bilingual form on DVD at the time.

The distributor has now set a November 30th, 2021 release for the show to be done as a standard definition Blu-ray that will include the Geneon dub with it as well as the clean opening and closing sequences. It’ll be priced at $39.95 for the twenty-five-episode run that will be kept to one disc with high-quality standard-definition encoding.

The show was written and directed by Tetsuya Endo while Noriko Otake handled the character designs and it was animated at Pierrot.

The Japanese cast includes Akira Ishida as Cho Hakkai, Hiroaki Hirata as Sha Gojyo, Sōichiro Hoshi as Son Goku, and Toshihiko Seki as Genjo Sanzo.

The opening theme song is “Wild Rock” from BUZZLIUP the ending theme songs are “ID” by flow-war and “Fukisusabu Kaze no Naka” by WAG.

Plot Concept: Priest Genjo Sanzo and companions Cho Hakkai, Sha Gojyo, and Son Goku maintain their westward journey to stop the resurrection of the demon Gyoumao. As the reputation of the Sanzo Ikkou precedes them, they continue to fight demon assassins at every turn, but they must also deal with increasing tensions within their group in order to defeat a powerful enemy.
