Funimation Schedules ‘Gundam Wing’ Anime Streaming

Funimation has been building up a lot of catalog shows over the last couple of years from a number of sources and now another one has entered the arena. The streaming service has announced that they’ll be adding Mobile Suit Gundam Wing to streaming as of September 7th, 2021. The bilingual presentation will be made available to viewers the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. They will also stream in Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and Peru at a later date.

Originally airing in 1995, the series was directed by Masashi Ikeda and Shinji Takamatsu based on the series composition by Katsuyuki Sumisawa. Shukou Murase handled the character designs and Sunrise produced the animation.

The Japanese cast includes Ai Orikasa as Quatre Raberba Winner, Akiko Yajima as Relena Darlian / Relena Peacecraft, Hikaru Midorikawa as Heero Yuy, Ryuuzou Ishino as Chang Wufei, Shigeru Nakahara as Trowa Barton, Takehito Koyasu as Zechs Merquise / Milliardo Peacecraft and Toshihiko Seki as Duo Maxwell.

The English cast includes Brad Swaile as Quatre Rabarba Winner, Brian Drummond as Zechs Merquise / Milliardo Peacecraft, Kirby Morrow as Trowa Barton, Lisa Ann Beley as Relena Peacecraft, Mark Hildreth as Heero Yuy, Scott McNeil as Duo Maxwell and Ted Cole as Chang Wufei.

Plot Concept: Mankind has moved into space. Thousands of people live on giant orbiting space colonies called “Sides.” However, the Earth Government, which rules the colonies, is unjust and cruel. A group of revolutionaries build five robotic weapons called Gundams and plan to send them to Earth to begin their fight for independence. Piloted by five young men, these Gundams carry the colonists’ hopes and dreams of freedom with them as they descend to Earth to begin Operation Meteor!
