Back in 2018, about a year from when Hiro Mashima ended Fairy Tail, he got his next work underway with Eden’s Zero, which has Kodansha Comics handling bringing it to a larger audience. We learned back in June 2020 that an anime adaptation was in the works and was previously scheduled for an April 10th, 2021 debut on NTV in Japan. The show was recently set for an August 26th, 2021 debut outside of Japan.

With that in mind, the show is getting ready for its nineteenth episode in Japan and that’s come with some news. Mie Sonozaki has joined the project to play Madame Kurenai. Sonozaki has extensive video game credits and a number of theme song performances as well as a slew of anime voiceover roles such as Jeanne in Bayonetta, Aya in Comic Party, and Nein in Firy Gone among others. She’s most well-known for her role as Gertrud in Strike Witches. Check out the character design below!

Shinji Ishihara is set as the chief director with Yushi Suzuki directing. Mitsutaka Hirota is working on the scripts with Yurika Sato handling the character design adaptation. JC Staff is on board for the production.

The Japanese cast includes Takuma Terashima as Shiki Granbell, Mikako Komatsu as Rebecca Bluegarden, Rie Kugimiya as Happy, Hiromichi Tezuka as Weisz Steiner, Shiori Izawa as E.M. Pino, Shiki Aoki as Homura Kogetsu, Sayaka Ohara as Elsie Crimson, Houchu Ohtsuka as Ziggy, Kikuko Inoue as Mother, Kiyono Yasuno as Witch Regret, Daisuke Namikawa as Justice, Yuki Shin as Jin, and Ayumi Ayano as Labilia Christy.

The publisher is currently bringing it out digitally as a simulpub through ComiXology, Crunchyroll Manga, and Kindle with more outlets to be announced as that gets finalized. Additionally, it’s getting released in five languages with Chinese, English, French, Korean, and Thai translations being made available.

Plot Concept: At Granbell Kingdom, an abandoned amusement park, Shiki has lived his entire life among machines. But one day, Rebecca and her cat companion Happy appear at the park’s front gates. Little do these newcomers know that this is the first human contact Granbell has had in a hundred years! As Shiki stumbles his way into making new friends, his former neighbors stir at an opportunity for a robo-rebellion…And when his old homeland becomes too dangerous, Shiki must join Rebecca and Happy on their spaceship and escape into the boundless cosmos.
