Nozomi Entertainment revealed at Anime Expo 2019 that they’ve acquired the rights to the out-of-print release of AD Police: To Protect and Service from its TV series incarnation. That landed in early 2020 on home video and the show is now, for the first time, getting some streaming going for it. The folks at RetroCrush are the first to add it and they’ve brought it out in bilingual form here for people to check out.

Now, they’ve added the opening theme song with “Imaginary Girl” by Infix streaming so folks can get a taste of what this series is actually like.

Check out our review of the series.

Originally airing in the spring 1999 season, the series was directed by Hidehito Ueda with character designs by Naoyuki Konno. AIC handled the animation production.

Priced at $29.99, Nozomi brought out the twelve-episode run on a single Blu-ray disc in standard definition back on February 4th, 2020 in Japanese and English languages with English subtitles. Extras include the clean opening and closing, a sketch art gallery, and a background gallery.

The Japanese cast includes Susumu Chiba as Kenji Sasaki, Takumi Yamazaki as Hans Kleif, Ayako Kawasumi as Kyoko Miyano, Chiharu Tezuka as Karen Jordan, and Kōji Ishii as Jose Collins. The English cast includes Jason Douglas as Hans Kleif, Randy Sparks as Kenji Sasaki, C. Markham Anderson as Jose Collins, Christine M. Auten as Karen Jordan, and Rozie Curtis as Kyoko Miyano.

The series was previously licensed and released by ADV Films while the earlier OVA series is licensed by AnimEigo.

Plot Concept: The Packer Syndicate is wreaking havoc across Genom City, using violent robots called Boomers to commit crimes. The only ones who can stop them are the Advanced Police, an elite squad of high-tech cops! Reckless daredevil Kenji Sasaki and his new partner, Hans Kleif, are hot on the trail of the Syndicate’s devious leader – but if they can’t figure out how to put their differences aside, they’ll end up killing each other before the Boomers even get a chance!
