Russo Brothers’ AGBO Studios ‘Battle Of The Planets’ Project Gets Screenwriter

2 min read
Searching for franchise potential.

It’s been a bit since at SDCC previously we learned that Joe and Anthony Russo talked about development through their AGBO Studios a live-action Battle of the Planets, which was the American-ized version of Gatchaman. At the time, things were just in the very early phases and starting to figure it out and how to approach it.

Now, the project has brought on screenwriter Daniel Casey to adapt it and serve as the lead creative developer on it. Casey’s most recent credits include the F9 film that just landed to pretty solid reviews all around. Casey’ll work in the screenplay while ensuring that there are ways to expand it beyond just that initial project.

“We are thrilled to be working with a collaborator of Dan’s caliber on this beloved property. His passion, attention to detail, and thirst for innovation will no doubt delight fans of the IP while making a thoughtful introduction for newcomers. He is pioneer at heart and the perfect partner as we set out to lay the foundation of a universe which will engage audiences on a meaningful level and across the media landscape.”

Check out our review of the series.

Utilizing the incredible technology and fighting techniques created by Dr. Nambu, and with the mighty ship the God Phoenix at their command, they just might! It’s time for the bad guys to get old-schooled science-ninja style as Japan’s original super team defeat evil, one flying kick at a time!
