We learned back in January 2021 that another light novel series is on track for an anime adaptation with the announcement of Shinka no Mi ~Shiranai Uchi ni Kachigumi Jinsei~, which translates as The Fruit of Evolution ~Before I Knew It, My Life Had It Made~. Now, the official site has updated with the first promotional video for it that you can see below while also revealing some staff and cast .

On the production side, Yoshiaki Okumura is directing it based on the scripts by Gigaemon Ichikawa. Minami Eda is adapting the character designs and studio feel and Children’s Playground Entertainment is handling the animation production.

The Japanese cast includes:

  • Hiro Shimono as Seiichi Hiiragi
  • Kana Hanazawa as Saria

The original light novels from Miku saw their origins online in 2014 and began print versions later that year through Monster Bunko with artwork by U35. The series published its 12th novel in February 2021.

Plot Concept: Seiichi Hiiragi is at the bottom of his school’s social pecking order and he and his entire school are upended when everyone in the school is transported into another world. Seiichi finds himself alone and approached by a gorilla, who instead of attacking him, instead proposes to him. At the moment that Seiichi thinks that “I guess a gorilla is fine too,” they find the Fruit of Evolution, and when they eat it, their lives are suddenly changed once again.
