We learned previously about a new TV anime adaptation that is being slotted for a summer 2021 debut with The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated! The series is being set for a two-cour run that begins on July 31st, 2021 and Crunchyroll recently announced their pickup for streaming after previously listing it very briefly. The series will be available to viewers in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and CIS.
Now, the official site has rolled out the first formal promotional video for the series, clocking in at just 44-seconds, but giving us a good idea of what to expect from it.
The show will be directed by Mirai Minato based on the scripts by Michiko Yokote. Saori Nakashiki is on board as the chief animation director and character designer with Silver Link handling the animation production for it.
The Japanese cast includes:
- Naomi Ōzora as Jahy
- Ai Kayano as Store Manager
- Yōko Hikasa as Oya
- Kana Hanazawa as Druj
- Mikako Komatsu as Saurva
- Sumire Uesaka as Magical Girl
- Yui Ogura as Kokoro
The opening theme song is “Fightin★Pose” by Yui Ogura for the first cour.
The series comes from Wakame Konbu which began in Gangan Joker magazine. It currently has six volumes out in Japan and Square Enix Mang & Books has plans for an English first-volume debut in July 2021.

Plot Concept: The Great Jahy, the Dark Realm’s second-in-command, cuts a frightening figure, feared and revered by all. But when a run-in with a magical girl results in the destruction of the precious mana crystal, the Dark Realm falls, transporting the newly tiny and powerless Jahy to the human world! Unfortunately, plotting the revival of the Dark Realm from a cramped, crumbling one-room apartment is no easy feat when you have rent to pay and a job to keep!
