2 min read
The set is scheduled for a March 26th, 2019 release as a DVD/BD Combo release and now the folks at GKIDS have put together a very fun new unboxing of the release.

It was a real treat to see Perfect Blue on the big screen a couple of years ago thanks to GKIDS. The previously brought out the film with a March 26th, 2019 release as a DVD/BD Combo release. Now, GKIDS is back with a new edition as they’ve got a steelbook release planned. Scheduled for a September 14th, 2021 debut, it’ll be priced at $29.98 and will be a DVD/BD combo once again that comes with an exclusive 12-page booklet. Check out the packaging design to the right.

The set will have the new digitally restored presentation of the film but also the SD version in its Japanese mono release with English subtitles. It also includes the Lectures by Satoshi Kon featurette, an Into the Blue featurette with new interviews, Angel of your Heart recording sessions and the full English version, as well as the trailers and TV spots that include the US and UK versions. Cast and crew interviews are also slotted for it.

“Satoshi Kon was an incredibly visionary and remarkable filmmaking talent,” said GKIDS President Dave Jesteadt about its acquisition earlier this year. “His shocking debut feature remains incredibly relevant, with its bold view of how technology and media can mold and distort our own perceptions of ourselves, and we are pleased to offer a new opportunity for audiences to discover his work.”
