‘Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 – Thrice Upon A Time ‘ Anime Feature Film Gets Amazon Prime Video Streaming

With the original Evangelion TV series hitting Netflix last year and spawning plenty of conversation, the next Rebuild film looks to be inching closer to reality. With Evangelion 3.0 arriving in 2012, Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 was set for a June 27th, 2020 Japanese theatrical debut and as one can guess, that was out the window thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. It eventually landed with a January 23rd, 2021 debut in Japan and has done well there so far.

Now, Amazon Prime Video has revealed that they’ll be bringing out the new film for streaming on the service as of August 13th, 2021. It’lll be presented in multiple languages including English, French, German, Portuguese, Spanish, and Italian while it will also stream in Japanese with subtitles in 28 languages.

To make things even better, they’ll be streaming the first three movies as well so you can get the full experience.

The first film of the Rebuild slate was originally released in 2007 directed by Hideaki Anno with Kazuya Tsurumaki and Masayuki based on the screenplay by Anno. Yoshiyuki Sadamoto worked on the character designs while Shunji Suzuki was the chief animation director for the project that was overseen by Khara for the animation.

The Japanese cast includes Kotono Mitsuishi as Misato Katsuragi, Megumi Hayashibara as Rei Ayanami, Megumi Ogata as Shinji Ikari, Akira Ishida as Kaworu Nagisa, Fumihiko Tachiki as Gendou Ikari, Megumi Hayashibara as Pen Pen, Motomu Kiyokawa as Kouzou Fuyutsuki, Takehito Koyasu as Shigeru Aoba, Tetsuya Iwanaga as Kensuke Aida, Tomokazu Seki as Touji Suzuhara and Yuriko Yamaguchi as Ritsuko Akagi.

The English cast includes Allison Keith as Misato Katsuragi, Brina Palencia as Rei Ayanami, Spike Spencer as Shinji Ikari, Colleen Clinkenbeard as Ritsuko Akagi, Greg Ayres as Kensuke Aida, Jerry Jewell as Kaworu Nagisa, John Swasey as Gendo Ikari, Justin Cook as Toji Suzuhara, Kent Williams as Kouzou Fuyutsuki, Monica Rial as Pen-Pen and Phil Parsons as Shigeru Aoba.

Plot concept: After the second impact, all that remains of Japan is Tokyo-3, a city that’s being attacked by giant creatures that seek to eradicate the human kind, called Angels. After not seeing his father for more than eight years, Shinji Ikari receives a phone call, in which he is told to urgently come to the NERV Headquarters, an organization that deals with the destruction of the Angels through the use of giant mechs called Evas.
