The 2021 series Godzilla Singular Point has doled out some information over the last few months and is now getting ready for the big final push. The series made its debut on Netflix Japan on March 25th, 2021 while also getting a Japanese broadcast debut on April 1st, 2021 but they’ll be done weekly, which gives Netflix the edge in being able to binge the show.
The worldwide debut is set for a June 24th, 2021 debut, and it launched this morning without a problem. And that’s giving us a chance to see what the language options are. The series is available in its original Japanese language as well as English, German, Spanish, French, and Japanese with audio description. Subtitle options include English, Spanish, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. Japanese closed captions are also available.
The new project comes from director Atsushi Takahashi with scripts by Toh Enjoe, a SF novelist. Kazue Kato is on board with the character designs while Eiji Yamamori is working on the kaiju as studios BONES and Orange are working on the animation – which is being done as both traditional and CG animation.
The Japanese cast includes Yume Miyamoto as Mei Kamino, Shōya Ishige as Yun Arikawa, Tarō Kikuchi as Haberu Katō, Wataru Takagi as Gorō Ōtaki, Ayako Takeuchi as Satomi Kanahara, Misaki Kuno as Pero 2, Rie Kugimiya as Jung, an AI installed on Yun’s smartphone, Yōhei Azakami as Shunya Satō, Jin Urayama as Tsunetomo Yamamoto, Kotori Koiwai as Yukie Kanoko, Kenichi Suzumura as Takehiro Kai, Kaho Kouda as Keiei Lee, Ryotaro Okiayu as Bayler “BB” Barn, Runa Onodera as Rina Barn, Tomoyuki Shimura as Yoshiyasu Matsubara, Hiromichi Tezuka as Makita K.
