We learned in the fall of 2020 that an anime adaptation of the Battle in 5 Seconds After Meeting manga is in the works and then more recently was scheduled for a summer 2021 debut. Recently, the official site has updated a July 12th, 2021 premiere date, and now we’ve got a new minute-long promo that has come out that shows off more of the cast in action.
The series has Meigo Naito as the chief director with Nobuyoshi Arai directing it based on the scripts by Touko Machida. Tomokatsu Nagasaku and Ikuo Yamakado are handling the character designs and Synergy SP and Vega Entertainment are handling the animation production.
The Japanese cast includes:

- Aimi as Yūri Amagake
- Mayumi Shintani as Mion
- Kazuya Nakai as Madoka Kirisaki
- Yūichi Nakamura as Shin Kumagiri
- Miyuri Shimabukuro as Ringo Tatara
- Akari Kitō as Yan
The manga comes from writer Saizo Harawata with artwork by Miyakokasiwa which began in 2015 in Ura Sunday. It’ll have fifteen volumes out as of November 2020 with over two million copies in print.

Plot Concept: The story begins when Akira Shiroyanagi, a high school boy who loves games and konpeitō sugar candy, gets suddenly embroiled in a battle by a mysterious girl who goes by the name Mion.
