Studio Colorido brought out its second original anime film now with Nakitai Watashi wa Neko o Kaburu, which has the English-language title of A Whisker Away. The film saw a June 18th, 2020 debut on Netflix where it’s in its original Japanese language but offers English, Spanish, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese subtitles along with Japanese closed captions.
Recently, TOHO has set a June 23rd, 2021 release date for the film on home video. The DVD is priced at 8,800 yen while the Blu-ray is priced at 9,800 yen. The sets come with several promos for the film and a 44-page booklet. With that set about to arrive, we have a look at the full spread for it.

The dub was directed by Megan Buchholz for Spliced Bread Productions. The English cast includes:

The Japanese cast includes Mirai Shidaas Miyo and Tarō, Natsuki Hanae as Kento, Kōichi Yamadera as Cat Storekeeper, Hiroaki Ogi as Homeroom Teacher Kusugi-sensei, Minako Kotobuki as Yoriko Fukase, Kensho Ono as Masamichi Isami, Susumu Chiba as Yōji Sasaki, Ayako Kawasumi as Kaoru Mizutani, Sayaka Ohara as Miki Saitō, and Daisuke Namikawa as Tomoya Sakaguchi.

Plot Concept: The film is finding one’s true self is set in Tokoname, Aichi and centers on Miyo “Muge” Sasaki. She is a peculiar second-year junior high student who has fallen in love with her classmate Kento Hinode. Muge resolutely pursues Kento every day, but he takes no notice of her. Nevertheless, while carrying a secret she can tell no one, Muge continues to pursue Kento. Muge discovers a magic mask that allows her to transform into a cat named Tarō. The magic lets Muge get close to Kento, but eventually, it may also make her unable to transform back to a human.
