The summer 2019 anime series Given was a part of the Noitamina block on Fuji TV and we learned not long after that a feature film was coming. With an August 22nd, 2020 debut, the film saw a February 3rd, 2021 release date for the DVD and Blu-ray in Japan. Now, Hong Kong distribution has arrived with the Blu-ray priced at HK$169.00 – and they have some fun add-on products as well such as a calendar and some clear cards. The release has the film in Japanese 5.1 in both DTS-HD MA and Dolby Digital while including only Chinese subtitles, unfortunately. The DVD is priced at HK$99.00.

The TV series had Hikaru Yamaguchi directing based on the scripts overseen by Yuniko Ayana. Studio Lerche is handling the animation production for it.

The Japanese cast includes Shougo Yano as Mafuyu Sato (guitarist and vocalist), Yūma Uchida as Ritsuka Uenoyama (guitarist), Masatomo Nakazawa as Haruki Nakayama (bassist), and Takuya Eguchi as Akihiko Kaji (drummer).

The series is based on the manga by Natsuki Kizu which is serialized in Cheri+ magazine. It began in December 2017 and has five volumes out as of April 2019.

Plot Concept: Somehow, the guitar that he used to love to play and the basketball games that he found so fun just lost their appeal…

That was until Ritsuka Uenoyama randomly met Mafuyu Sato. Ritsuka had started losing his passion for music in his everyday life, but then he hears Mafuyu sing for the first time. The song resonates with his heart and the distance between them starts to change.
