Additional ‘Sakugan’ Anime Cast Revealed

The Project ANIMA group that was put together back in 2017 has a new project coming up that’s been announced with Sakugan. With plans for a fall 2021 debut, it’s been mostly quiet other than cast updates. With some casting confirmation a couple of weeks ago, the official site has now updated with more to reveal that Tsuyoshi Koyama has joined as Boss while Misaki Watada will play Muuko. We also added an English-subtitled trailer we had missed before.

The previously announced Japanese cast includes:

  • Kanon Amane as Memenpu
  • Hiroki Touchi as Gagamba
  • Kana Hanazawa as Zackletu
  • Toshiyuki Toyonaga as Yuri
  • Yoshimasa Hosoya as Melо̄lo
  • Hikaru Midorikawa as Rufus
  • Tsuyoshi Koyama as Boss
  • Misaki Watada as Muuko

The series comes from director Junichi Wada who is overseeing the series composition as well. Shingo Nagai, Mariko Mochizuki, and Toshizo Nemoto are on board writing the scripts for it with Yuji Iwahara working on the character designs.

Shoji Kawamori is on board for the monster concept design while Brunet Stanislas is handling the mecha design.

Plot Concept: One day in the distant future. Humans live shoulder to shoulder in “colonies” separated by rock. Outside the colonies, a dangerous undeveloped area called “the Labyrinth” is expanding. Those who risk their lives to develop “the Labyrinth”, who mark out the undeveloped areas, are known as “Markers”.A young girl, Memempu, who wants to be a Marker one day, and a man, Gagumber, who used to be one.This mismatched father and daughter now take on the Labyrinth! “If there’s no path, dig one!”
