The winter 2017 anime series BanG Dream has come and gone and we’ve got a couple of spin-off works and additional seasons. One of the new projects that has been in the works is the next feature film with BanG Dream! Poppin’ Dream!, which has now been scheduled for a January 1st, 2022 theatrical release.
The announcement comes with a new key visual to the right and a trailer for it below.
The film sees Koudai Kakimoto as the chief director with Masanori Uetaka directing it at SANZIGEN based on the screenplay by Yuniko Ayana.
The third season had Sanzigen handling the animation production for both of the seasons. The first season was directed by Atsushi Ootsuki based on the series composition from Yuniko Ayana. Natsuko Nita adapted the original character designs done by Hitowa Issen and Xebec handled the animation production.
The Japanese cast includes Aimi (Aimi Terakawa) as Kasumi Toyama, Ayasa Itou as Arisa Ichigaya, Rimi Nishimoto as Rimi Ushigome, Sae Oozuka as Tae Hanazono and Ayaka Ohashi as Saaya Yamabuki.
Property concept: Kasumi Toyama was enthralled by the stars as a young girl, so when she discovers a trail of star-shaped signs one day after transferring to a new school, she can’t help but follow them. They lead her to a shop run by the grandmother of one of her new classmates, and Kasumi finds something that will change her life forever: a star-shaped guitar! And just like that, Kasumi knows that forming a band is her destiny. Of course, convincing Arisa and her grandmother to sell her the guitar won’t be easy, and finding a group of other girls who want to become musicians will be even harder. But when a girl has stars in her eyes and a starbeat in her heart, there’s nothing that will stop Kasumi from making her fantasies come true in BANG DREAM!
