We learned back in October 2020 that the Tsukimichi -Moonlit Fantasy- novel series from Kei Azumi is next up on the adaptation front as the release of a new volume at the time confirmed that a TV adaptation is in the works. The show already has Crunchyroll as handling some of the streaming distribution for the show and now the Japanese side has updated to reveal a July 7th, 2021 premiere date. With a new promotional video below, we also know that the opening theme song is “Gamble” by syudou while the ending theme song is “Beautiful Dreamer” by Ezoshika Gourmet Club.

The series has Shinji Ihara set to direct it based on the scripts coming from Kenta Ihara. Yuki Suzuki is adapting the character designs with C2C handling the animation production side.

The previously announced Japanese cast includes:

  • Natsuki Hanae as Makoto
  • Ayane Sakura as Tomoe
  • Akari Kitō as Mio
  • Yūki Shin as Hazal
  • Yuna Kamakura as Louisa
  • Saika Kitamori as Ranina
  • Kazuhiko Inoue as Patrick Rembrandt
  • Masaharu Satō as Morris
  • Taku Yashiro as Lime Latte

The novel series began in 2012 from Kei Azumi and has fifteen volumes so far.

Plot Concept: Makoto Misumi is just an ordinary high school student living a regular life, but all of a sudden gets summoned to the other world to become a “hero.” The goddess of the other world, however, insults him for being different and strips his “hero” title, before casting him off to the wilderness at the edge of the world. As he wanders the wilderness, Makoto encounters dragons, spiders, orcs, dwarves, and all sorts of non-human tribes. Because Makoto comes from a different world, he is able to unleash unimaginable magical powers and combat skills. But just how will he handle his encounters with various species and survive in his new environment. In this fantasy, Makoto tries to transform the other world into a better place despite the humans and gods having turned their backs on him.
