‘Nikuko of the Fishing Harbor’ Anime Film Reveals Second Music Video

The folks at Studio 4°C have a new project coming up for early summer 2021 with an anime adaptation of Gyoko no Nikuko-san, which translates as Nikuko of the Fishing Harbor. It’s based on the novel of the same name by Kanako Nishi which has 350,000 copies in print since its debut in 2014. The project recently received a formal premiere date of June 11th, 2021 – which made admittedly not hold with the way the pandemic is unfolding there and states of emergency being issued.

Now, a really beautiful two-minute promo has landed that is essentially a music video for the film that highlights a lot of new footage and will certainly draw in a lot of potential fans with it. It plays with the ending theme song “Taketen” for it, which was performed by GReeeeN.

We previously learned that Shinobu Otake will be playing the lead character of Nikuko, Cocomi as Kikuko, Natsuki Hanae has joined as Ninomiya, and Hiro Shimono as the lizard and gecko. Additional casting includes Ikuji Nakamura as Sassan, Riho Yoshioka as Miu, Matsuko Deluxe as Darcia, Atsushi Yamanishi, Yuichi Yasoda, and Izumi Ishii as Maria,

The feature film is directed by Ayumu Watanabe based on the screenplay by Satomi Ooshima. Kenichi Konishi is on board as the chief animation director and working as the character designer with Studio 4°C handling the production.

Plot Concept: The story tells the tale of a mother named Nikuko and her daughter, Kikuko, who live on a boat. The novel follows their paths in life and their growth.
