It was revealed as part of an event in November 2018 that several new Gundam projects are coming up as part of the focus on the Universal Century timeline. One of those was the Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway’s Flash feature film, which is being done as a movie trilogy that’s based on the 1989 novel trilogy from Yoshiyuki Tomino.

With most of the delays behind it due to the pandemic, the film was previously set with a May 21st, 2021 release date in Japan for its theatrical run after seeing various delays. With the recent states of emergencies, it was only a matter of time before this film got the push and it’s now been slotted as TBA s to when it’ll actually hit theaters in Japan.

Now, new guidance has hit the various prefectures and theaters are making changes so the film has now been given a June 11th, 2021 debut and will likely make it this time as it’s just ten days away.

The home video release is getting done at the same time and has seen itself delayed as well, so that’s being bumped as well. This is the “theatrical limited edition” being sold to those who go to the theater to see it and can walk out owning it afterward. This edition comes with Japanese, English, French, Korean, Thair, and Chinese subtitles and you can see the artwork below.

The previously announced cast includes::

  • Kensho Ono as Hathaway Noa
  • Rena Ueda as Gigi Andalucia
  • Junichi Suwabe as Kenneth Sleg
  • Sōma Saitō as Lane Aim
  • Kenjiro Tsuda as Gahman Nobil
  • Yui Ishikawa as Emerelda Zubin
  • Fukushi Ochiai as Raymond Cain
  • Shunsuke Takeuchi as Iram Masam
  • Misato Matsuoka as Mihesher Hence
  • Chiharu Sawashiro as Kenji Mitsuda
  • Atsumi Tanezaki as Mace Flower
  • Kōichi Yamadera as Hundley Yeoksam
  • Toru Furuya as Amuro Rey

It has Shukou Murase directing all three films with Yasuyuki Mutou working on the screenplays. Pablo Uchida, Naoyuki Onda, and Shigeki Kuhara have the job of adapting Haruhiko Mikimoto’s distinctive designs.
