We learned in April 2020 that another light novel series has gotten the nod for an anime adaptation with the announcement of How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom. With a July 2021 debut ahead of it, the folks at Funimation have announced their pickup of the series as part of their summer offerings. While there are no Japanese premiere dates set, distribution for this is familiar as Funimation will handle it in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Brazil, and Mexico while AnimeLab will distribute in Australia and New Zealand and Wakanim in Scandinavian countries.

Takashi Watanabe is directing it with the scripts coming from Hiroshi Ohnogi and Go Zappa. Mai Otsuka is adapting the character designs with JC Staff handling the animation production.

The Japanese cast includes:

A manga adaptation also kicked off in 2017 from Satoshi Ueda which has produced five volumes so far which J-Novel Club is releasing digitally. Plot Concept: “O, Hero!” With that cliched line, Kazuya Souma found himself summoned to another world and his adventure–did not begin. After he presents his plan to strengthen the country economically and militarily, the king cedes the throne to him and Souma finds himself saddled with ruling the nation! What’s more, he’s betrothed to the king’s daughter now…?! In order to get the country back on its feet, Souma calls the wise, the talented, and the gifted to his side. Five people gather before the newly crowned Souma. Just what are the many talents and abilities they possess…?! What path will his outlook as a realist take Souma and the people of his country down? A revolutionary transferred-to-another-world administrative fantasy series starts here!
