‘Kud Wafter’ Visual Novel Anime Film Adaptation Delayed

2 min read
The story follows the romantic relationship between Riki Naoe and Kudryavka Noumi from the game Little Busters!

With a new annual report out from Visual Arts about what the company is working on back in 2017, at the time it looked like things are being developed for an anime adaptation of the spinoff from Little Busters with Kud Wafter. We didn’t hear a lot about it after that 2017 report but we learned in 2019 that things were moving forward on the crowdfunding side and had initially had plans for 2020, though it’s understandable that the pandemic pushed that back.

Back in March, when things seemed different, the official site revealed plans for a May 14th, 2021 debut for it. Now, with a new state of emergency in Japan underway, the film has been pushed back to a July 16th, 2021 release date in several prefectures while others are looking at an August 6th, 2021 release.

The project has Kentaro Suzuki as director with JC Staff handling the animation production for it. The screenplay comes from KAI with Haruko Iizuka working on the character designs.

With the Little Busters property having had a few releases in anime form and doing decently enough in international licensing, you can see them looking at it is a potentially viable smaller project that would feel in line with the Fate/Kaleid Linerkind of approach to it.

Plot Concept: The story follows the romantic relationship between Riki Naoe and Kudryavka Noumi from the game Little Busters!
