The fall 2020 anime series Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club is one that went over pretty well as this franchise expanded and it looks like more is on the way. This weekend saw a school festival event for the property and during it they announced that a second season has received the green light for production and that it will debut in 2022 with details to be determined.
The series has Tomoyuki Kawamura directing based on the scripts overseen by Jin Tanaka while Takumi Yokota is handling the character designs. Sunrise returns to work on the animation production itself.
The character for this project were introduced back in 2017 as part of one of the app games Perfect Dream Project pieces that Klab Games worked on.
The Japanese cast includes Aguri Ōnishi as Ayumu Uehara, Akari Kitō as Kanata Konoe, Chiemi Tanaka as Rina Tennōji, Kaori Maeda as Shizuku Ōsaka, Maria Sashide as Emma Verde, Mayu Sagara as Kasumi Nakasu, Miyu Kubota as Karin Asaka, Natsumi Murakami as Ai Miyashita, and Tomori Kusunoki as Setsuna Yūki.

Plot Concept: Nijigasaki High School is located in Odaiba, Tokyo. The school is popular due to its free school style and diverse majors. The story centers on the members of the school idol club in Nijigasaki and their attempt to prevent the club from being abolished.
