All good things must come to an end.

Amanchu Visual 5-26The summer 2016 and spring 2018 anime series Amanchu! is one that we’re still hoping we see get a home video release at some point but it’s the original manga that’s making the news now. Kozue Amano’s property revealed earlier this year that the 17th volume of the property that’s due out on November 10th, 2021 will be the final installment of it. It was revealed last September that the series was entering its final arc. The manga began in 2008 in Comic Blade and just released the 16th volume last month.

What we didn’t know was when the last chapter would be. That’s now been finalized as Mag Comi has confirmed that the final installment will be with the May 10th, 2021 magazine.

The series had Junichi Sato as the chief director with Kenichi Kasai doing the main directing working off of series composition by Deko Akao. Character designs were handled by Youko Itou with animation produced at JC Staff.

The cast includes Eri Suzuki as Hikari Kohinata, Ai Kayano as Futaba Ooki, Saori Oonishi as Ai Ninomiya, Yuuichirou Umehara as Makoto Ninomiya, Shizuka Itou as Mato Katori, Yurika Kubo as Aria and Kikuko Inoue as Kino Kohinata.

The series features the opening song “Crosswalk” from Minori Suzuki as the opening while the closing theme song is “Hello Hello” as performed by the always delightful Maaya Sakamoto.

Plot concept: Hikari Kohinata is a cheerful 15-year-old girl who lives near the ocean and she spends much of her time diving as a result. On her first day of high school, she meets a teacher who also likes scuba diving. There’s also a 16-year-old classmate, Futaba, who gets dragged along in Hikari’s maelstrom as soon as they meet at school. Most of the manga so far details the relationship between the two girls, which quickly seems to move into romantic two girl friendship-territory.
