Kadokawa Acquires J-Novel Club

Another Kadokawa pickup!

The folks at Kadokawa have made a pretty solid move to continue their expansion in offering their works overseas as they’ve announced (PDF) that they’ve acquired the J-Novel Club publisher. Kadokawa has a number of venture that includes Bookwalker and working with Yen Press to bring out a range of their books and the J-Novel Club acquisition is another piece in this expansion as the Japanese distribution side continues to recognize the importance of the overseas market – and their stronger control in those that bring those works overseas.

The plan, from what I can see through limited translation of the PDF, is the intent to up the simulpublishing side of their titles and then work the books later. Subscription services are also looking to get a good bump through this.
