It’s been a few years – 2018 – since we had anything to say about these two OVAs from this franchise but we can finally talk about Tokyo Ghoul: Pinto and Jack once more. With streaming overseas previously, Funimation has now revealed that they’ll be streaming them exclusively on their service beginning on April 28th, 2021 and that they’ll be bilingual in the offering.

The OVAs were directed by Soichi Shimada and Tadahito Matsubayashi respectively for Pinto and Jack based on the script by Soichi Shimada. Kazuhiro Miwa and Manabua Kurihara handled the character designs with Pierrot handling the animation.

The Japanese cast for the Pinto OVA includes Mamoru Miyano as Shū Tsukiyama, Megumi Han as Chie Hori, Chie Nakamura as Matsumae, Hiroshi Naka as Old Man, Kana Yūki as Clerk, Kanae Itō as Ikaru, Kouhei Aoyama as Runner, Kouichi Yokota as Male Student, Meiko Kawasaki as Female Student, Rina Satou as Nurse, and Yuko Hara as Female Student.  The English cast includes J. Michael Tatum as Shu Tsukiyama, Madeleine Morris as Chie Hori, and Julie Shields as Matsumae.

The Japanese cast for the Jack OVA includes Daisuke Namikawa as Kishō Arima, Ryohei Kimura as Taishi Fura, Rintarou Nishi as Yamori, Rumi Okubo as Aki, Saori Hayami as Uruka Minami, Tatsuhisa Suzuki as Ryō, and Yūji Ueda as Itsuki Marude. The English cast includes Christopher Wehkamp as Kisho Arima, Larry Brantley as Taishi Fura, Christopher R. Sabat as Yamori, and Philip Weber as Itsuki Marude.

Pinto Plot Concept: Shuu Tsukiyama (aka Gourmet), is photographed by Chie Hori, a classmate, while eating a meal. However, she doesn’t seem fazed by him, or his choice of meals, and is apparently in it just for photography. But Shuu Tsukiyama doubts her motives.

Jack Plot Concept: An incident involving a human-devouring Ghoul occurs in Tokyo’s 13th Ward. To seek the truth behind what happened to his friend, the rebellious high school boy Taishi Fura pursues the Ghoul named Lantern with the young ace investigator Kishō Arima. The story follows how the ace investigator Arima and the talented 7th Ward investigator Taishi Fura first met.
