The anime adaptation of the children’s series Oshiri Tantei, aka Buttocks Detective got underway back in 2018 but that was not the end of it. With a good chunk of TV material out there, an anime feature film is coming that has now been set for an August 13th, 2021 debut.
The third film for the property, it’s called The Secret of Sufūre Island and will be directed by Akifumi Zako. Natsuko Takahashi is returning from the TV series to write the screenplay and Toei Animation is handling the production.
The books come from writer/illustrator Troll that gives us a lead character that’s basically a talking butt that’s a detective. Seriously, how can that not win you over?
Toei Animation is handling the animation for it and it will be directed by Megumi Ishitani and the Japanese cast includes Yūko Sanpei, Ayaka Saitō, Takahiro Sakurai, and Ikkei Watanabe.
