The winter 2021 anime adaptation of the Cells at Work! Code Black spinoff is getting its home video release handled by Aniplex Japan. They’ve set a familiar schedule for the thirteen-episode series where it’ll be getting a seven-volume release made up of limited editions. With separate DVD and Blu-ray editions, the first volumes are priced at 3,000 yen and 4,000 yen respectively while the remaining volumes are priced at 5,800 yen and 6,800 yen respectively that began on February 24th, 2021. The third volume is coming up on April 28th, 2021 and we now have the cover artwork for that release!
The series is directed by Hideyo Yamamoto based on the series composition and scripts by Hayashi Mori. Eiji Abiko is on board with the character designs and LIDEN Films is handling animation production.
The Japanese cast includes Junya Enoki as Red Blood Cell while Yoko Hikasa is White Blood Cell. Kenjiro Tsuda is serving as the narrator. Additional casting includes Hekiru Shiina as Macrophage, Sarah Emi Bridcutt as Liver Cell, and Daisuke Hirakawa as Brain Cell.
The manga began in winter 2015 and has five volumes released so far.
