It's time to get weird.

The character of Gloomy Bear is moving on up to the anime side of things as part of its 20th-anniversary in 2021. We learned in December 2020 about the plans for a TV series that were in the works with an April 12th, 2021 debut. With it going live today, Crunchyroll has announced their pickup of it with new episodes coming out on Mondays at 11:30 am ET for their viewers. Availability is for members in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and CIS.

The show is set to be directed by Takehiro Kubota, which is all we knew at first. Now, original creator Chack Mori is credited as the animation director and script supervisor while Megu Yagi and Aimi Morodome are on board as scriptwriters.

The series cast includes Koichi Yamadera as Gloomy while Natsuki Hanase is Pitty.

Plot Concept: GLOOMY is Pity’s pet bear. He’s a little over 6 feet and weighs as much as 2000 pomegranates. He’s well trained for the most part, but he can never remember that he’s not supposed to attack humans. Still, a pet owner must take ultimate responsibility for his pets. Recalling warm memories of GLOOMY as a cute bear cub, Pity tries to lead a life of peaceful co-existence with his pet bear.
