The spring 2021 anime adaptation Kuro-Gyaru ni Natta Kara Shinyū to Yatte Mita, which is localized as I Became a Kuro-Gyaru* so I F***ed My Best Friend, saw an April 4th, 2021 debut with the first episode on their YouTube channel and their own streaming service already. Now, the second episode is coming up on April 11th, 2021 and they’ve rolled out their first preview for it which definitely looks like a ride.
The series looks to be like other ComicFesta projects of late in that it has a broadcast and a premium version but it’s not operating with two different casts for it.
The latest update for the show is that two more cast members (see character designs below) have joined with:
- Yoshiyuki Shimozuma as Hajime Tsuzuki
- Marin Mizutani as Mayu Uehara
- Makoto Furukawa as Rui Chihaya
- Kazutomi Yamamoto as Shion Chihara
The series is directed by Chokko based on the scripts by Eeyo Kurosaki and Rei Ishikura. MCQ1 is handling the character designs and serving as the chief animation director with studio Irawiazu handling the production.
The manga comes from Yupopo Orishima.

Plot Concept: The “gender-swap romantic comedy” centers around Shion Chihara and Rui Chihaya, two tight college friends who are unrivaled in picking up women. One day, Shion is given a drug by a mysterious woman and wakes up in a woman’s body. It was love at first sight for Rui, despite not initially realizing that this woman before him is actually his best friend Shion.
