‘Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World’ Anime Dub Gets Hulu Distribution

The fall 2020 anime adaptation of the light novel series Our Last Crusade or the Rise of a New World, also known as Kimi to Boku no Saigo no Senjō, Arui wa Sekai ga Hajimaru Seisen, is getting some new expansion in distribution. While the series wrapped up previously for its streaming, the simuldub for it is now expanding from being on the Funimation service to Hulu where there are millions more viewers. The full twelve-episode run is now available there for viewing.

The project was directed by Shin Oonuma and Mirai Minato based on the series composition by Kento Shimoyama. Kaori Sato worked on the character designs while serving as the chief animation director with production handled by Silver Link.

The Japanese cast includes Yūsuke Kobayashi as Iska, Sora Amamiya as Aliceliese Lou Nebulis IX, Kaori Ishihara as Nene Alkastone, Nao Shiraki as Mismis Klass, Shunichi Toki as Jhin Syulargun, Yumiri Hanamori as Rin Vispose, Ayana Taketatsu as Risya In Empire, Jun Kasama as “Nameless”, Azumi Waki as Sisbell Lou Nebulis IX, and Aya Hisakawa as Millavair Lou Nebulis VIII”.

The series comes from writer Kei Sazane and illustrator Ao Nekonabe which began in 2017 and has seven volumes out so far. A manga adaptation kicked off in 2018 with Okama handling that as serialized in Young Animal magazine. Yen Press is releasing both in English in North America.

The opening theme song is “Against” by Kaori Ishihara while the ending theme song is “Koori no Torikago” by Aliceliese Lou Nebulix IX.

Plot Concept: A great war has raged for years between the scientifically advanced Empire and Nebulis, the realm of magical girls—until the youngest knight ever to receive the title of the Empire’s strongest meets the princess of the rival nation. Though they are sworn enemies, the knight is taken by her beauty and dignity, and the princess is moved by his strength and way of life. Will the fighting between them ever be allowed to end?
