‘A Couple of Cuckoos’ Manga Getting TV Anime Adaptation

It’s easy to guess which manga that Kodansha Comics is releasing in English digitally getting fast-tracked to a print edition.

The manga series A Couple of Cuckoos from Miki Yoshikawa has gotten the nod for an anime adaptation that will debut in 2022. The manga began in January 2020 (with Kodansha Comics bringing it out digitally a year later in English) and it has five volumes out so far with its first novel due out this month as well.

The anime adaptation is set with Horiaki Akagi serving as the chief director with Yoshiyuki Shirahata directing. Yasuhiro Nakanishi is working on the scripts while Aya Takano is handling the character design adaptation. Shin-Ei Animation and Synergy SP are behind the animation production.

The Japanese cast includes:

  • Kaito Ishikawa as Nagi Umino
  • Akari Kitō as Erika Amano

Plot Concept: 16-year-old super-studier Nagi Umino, second-year student at the Megurogawa Academy high school, was switched at birth. On his way to a dinner to meet his birth parents, he accidentally meets the brash, outspoken, Erika Amano, who is determined to make Nagi her fake boyfriend as she never wants to actually marry. But once Nagi makes it to dinner, he finds his parents have decided to resolve the hospital switch by conveniently having him marry the daughter his birth parents raised…who turns out to be none other than Erika herself!
