The Black Adam film has been in a wait-state for awhile with Dwayne Johnson set to star as the title character for Warner Bros. / New Line. The project has set filming to begin next month in Georgia and with a theatrical release date to come.

With some welcome casting landing recently with Pierce Brosnan as Dr. Fate, the latest bit to arrive came during the NCAA tournament game last night where Dwayne John had a short spot on TBS for the film that confirmed a July 29th, 2022 release date for it.

“The hierarchy of power in the DC Universe is about to change,” said Dwayne Johnson in the spot.

Jaume Collet-Serra is on board to direct based on the screenplay turned in by Adam Sztykiel.

The cast includes Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Aldis Hodge as Carter Hall/Hawkman, Quintessa Swindell as Maxine Hunkel/Cyclone, Pierce Brosnan as Kent Nelson/Dr. Fate, and Djimon Hounsou as Shazam.
