The Black Adam film has been in a wait-state for awhile with Dwayne Johnson set to star as the title character for Warner Bros. / New Line. The project has set filming to begin next month in Georgia and with a theatrical release date to come.

Now, a new bit of casting has come out with Pierce Brosnan joining the project to take on the role of Kent Nelson, aka Dr. Fate. We’ve had a lot of iterations of the character over the decades and they’ve shown up in various media over the years as well, sometimes just with the helm showing. For Brosnan, this is his first time stepping into a superhero film and it’s one where you can see it being somewhat more of a limited role because of the nature of the outfit, but is perfect with Kent Nelson character himself.

Jaume Collet-Serra is on board to direct based on the screenplay turned in by Adam Sztykiel.

The cast includes Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Aldis Hodge as Carter Hall/Hawkman, Quintessa Swindell as Maxine Hunkel/Cyclone, and Djimon Hounsou as Shazam.
