What They Say
Atsushi and Kyouka, struggling to revive the Detective Agency, meet with a mysterious benefactor to gain information. As they infiltrate the Decay of the Angel’s Sky Casino, can they slip through the fangs of the hunting dogs and seize a faint glimmer of hope?
Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers):
Atsushi and Kyouka break into what can only be called a prison, though on the outside it looks like a bank. They are looking for Mushitatarou, who at one point assisted the Decay of Angel. Atsushi and Kyouka want his help, but it takes some encouragement and assistance from an unlikely ally, Ango.
With Ango and Montgomery’s help, they head to the Sky Casino, with a mission to find the “page”. But, the Hunting Dogs are hot on the trail of agency and also end up at the Sky Casino. It turns out the manager of Sky Casino, Sigma, also works for the Decay of Angel. While Dostoyevsky warned Sigma to flee if he ever faced the Hunting Dogs, Sigma ignores the advice and decides he will do his best to protect the Decay of Angel’s secrets and his casino.
In Summary:
The layers of this story intensify with each volume. Not only do the characters from volume one remain in the story, but new characters and groups are also added. It was simply the agency versus the mafia, but the line between who is the good and bad guy is quite fuzzy. It can lend to some confusion perhaps, but it also is quite exciting to not knowing who to trust, and really who is the villain. Add layers of superpowers on top of it and sprinkle a ton of literature references, and you’ve got yourself this story. Whether you love some like this or not, the action and intrigue keep chugging along without fail.
