‘The Detective Is Already Dead’ Anime Adaptation Sets Premiere With New Promo

A new series with staff, cast, and visual revealed!

The Monthly Comic Alive magazine has revealed a new anime adaptation in the works with Tantei wa Mō, Shindeiru, aka The Detective Is Already Dead. With the first round of details out there previously, the project has now updated with its first formal promotional video that has revealed a July 2021 premiere.We also have a new key visual below for it.

The series will be directed by Manabu Kurihara with scripts by Deko Akao. Yosuke Ito is on board for the character designs with ENGI handling the animation production. Check out the key visual below.

The Japanese cast includes:

  • Shin Nagai as Kimihiko Kimizuka
  • Saki Miyashita as Siesta
  • Ayana Taketatsu as Nagisa Natsunagi
  • Kanon Takao as Yui Saikawa
  • Saho Shirasu as Charlotte Arisaka Anderson
  • Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Kōmori
  • Takehito Koyasu as Chameleon

The light novel series from Nigoju and Umibozu began in 2019 and has four volumes out so far. A manga adaptation began in May 2020 with one volume out so far.

Plot Concept: The story focuses on Kimihiko Kimizuka, a third-year high school student and former assistant of a detective named Siesta. He made Siesta’s acquaintance three years ago, 10,000 meters above the ground in a hijacked plane. The two went on one death-defying adventure after another for three years that eventually ended with Siesta’s untimely death. Left alone, Kimihiko tries his best to reintegrate himself back into a normal life.
