It looks like the Metropolis anime feature film based on the Osamu Tezuka work is finding a new home overseas as German distributor KSM Anime has now solicited a new release. The film is set for a March 10th, 2021 debut on DVD and Blu-ray priced at euro 29.99 respectively. The bilingual set comes with a bonus DVD that contains a range of extras. KSM’s site doesn’t list it but it’s likely what we’ve seen in past releases with:
- The Making of Osamu Tezuka’s Metropolis documentary (33:16)
- Filmmaker Interviews (8:03)
- Animation Comparisons
- Comparison 1: City View (0:41)
- Comparison 2: Wheel Room (0:55)
- Trailer (1:41)
- Promotional Trailer (2:17)
Check out the new trailer focusing on the German-language dub. The set comes with that, Japanese, and English audio but only German subtitles.

His uncle follows him and penetrates the dark secrets of the city to find Duke Red, the man ruling from the shadows. Meanwhile, Kenichi desperately tries to protect the mysterious girl from the people hunting her. However, Duke Red and his adoptive son have their own deep reasons for chasing the girl. These reasons are connected to her true identity and the struggle for the domination of Metropolis…
