“We Ain’t a Couple”

What They Say:
After growing up in Tokyo, high school student Jin Kaito moves to Nagoya where he meets Yatogame Monaka, a fellow student who puts her Nagoya dialect on full display. With her cat-like appearance and unvarnished Nagoya dialect, Yatogame won’t open up to him at all. This popular local comedy is increasing the status of Nagoya through observation of the adorable Yatogame-chan!

With a bit of mood setting going on with pictures being taken for a contest, setting up Jin and Yatogame together for a date makes for some ideal pictures. Of course, Yatogame has been bought off easily for this but Jin is struggling with this being some weird version of a date with kind of chaperones following along. This takes us to some nice attractions along the waterfront, including the aquarium, where Yatogame gets to sound off about the neat things from there. But it leads to plenty of awkward date moments as well that are very amusing to watch because they’re trying to act like it’s not a date. But they keep getting pushed into real date moments, much to their chagrin.

In Summary:
Even as Jin gets paired with others for it since it doesn’t work out with Yatogame we still get similar situations, mostly because none of them know how to date. It’s cute and silly but I just liked the locations and wish we had a rom-comn dating thing going on as an actual series premises so we could see more of these kinds of areas as promotion for Nagoya. It’s cute and silly in all the right ways and watchin how Jin basically gets three dates in one afternoon is very amusing.
