The winter 2021 anime adaptation of Hortensia Saga is getting its home video releases handled by Aniplex Japan and they’ve set a shortened schedule. The twelve-episode series is getting a three-volume release that begins on March 17th, 2021. Both formats are listed as limited editions with the DVDs priced at 11,000 yen and the Blu-rays at 13,000 yen each. With the first set coming up in two weeks we now have a look at the slipcover for it and the main cover while still hoping we get a full packaging spread to see how it all comes together.
The series is directed by Yasuto Nishikata based on the scripts overseen by Rintarou Ikeda. Takayuki Onoda is handling the character designs with LIDEN FILMS production the animation.
The Japanese cast includes Yoshimasa Hosoya as Alfred Ober, Yui Horie as Mariyus Casteledo, Kenjiro Tsuda as Maurice Baudelaire, Reina Ueda as Nonnoria Folley, Aya Uchida as Kuu Morimol, Yuichiro Umehara as Deflott Danowa, Yu Kobayashi as Adelheid Olivier, Tetsuya Kakihara as Leon D. Olivier, Takehito Koyasu Fernando Ober, Kenji Nomura as Lugis F. Camellia, Takuya Eguchi as Roy Bashro, Yuka Ōtsubo as Bernadetta Ober, Kazuma Horie as Alexi Baldebron, and Shūichi Ikeda as Didier Vialdo.
MY FIRST STORY is handling the opening theme song “Leader” for the series while the ending theme song “Yaso to Hakuchumu” is being performed by Mafumafu.

Plot Concept: Hortensia Saga is a medieval fantasy tale of war and chaos. Three years ago the king was betrayed and murdered by one of his dukes who then built his own kingdom out of the ashes of the old. But now, the original heir to the throne has secretly come of age.
