The Review:
Content: (please note that content portions of a review may contain spoilers)
What a way to set the mood by having Gabumon hanging on a cross and Yamato getting blasted. He about to go to the kingdom’s come until Joe and Gomamon appear from the ground. Even though he saved Yamato, Joe is on the ground begging for his clothes. Joe is telling Yamato his story but he isn’t paying much attention. Yamato wants the torture to end and shuts up Joe by saying thanks.

Mephismon is leading another division of the Milleniumon cult. He is turning several Elecmon into energy for Milleniumon. This is a good manner to make Milleniumon a fearsome villain. The Digidestined were split and they had some wonderful adventures. But they also are having some twisted experiences as they travel the Digital World. They witness the horrific results of Milleniummon’s pawns and how the peaceful Digimon have suffered because of it.

I would never have imagined it but Joe does something amazing for his friends. The last time he was seen, he was trapped in a hot spring with no way out. Randomly he just happens to appears at the right moment where Yamato needs help. He ends up going on the offensive to help Yamato save Gabumon. This is the moment where all of his studying finally comes to fruition. He enters into a mediation state chanting all the history, science, mathematical facts in his textbooks and freeing the Digimon from Mephismon mind control powers. Those textbooks always seemed like a waste of space but they come through least expectedly.

Life is about change but one thing about Yamato will remain the same. He always to do everything by himself. He has a one-track mind and doesn’t want any diversions towards his goals. It was implied that he wanted to ignore the Elecmon’s suffering but Gabumon took action to save them. He forced Yamato’s hand to do the same. There a flashback to where he meets Gabumon a bit earlier before the series started. He rejected Gabumon and wanted nothing to do with the Digital World. Gabumon kept following around and yet still protected him as they were under attack. Yamato accepted that Gabumon was a true friend and there was something special with him. It was even a sweeter moment seeing him let go of his pride and learning to ask for help from Joe and Gomamon to save his buddy.

In Summary:
Seeing Gabumon on the cross and moments away from being sacrificed to the devil wasn’t the most welcoming sight but things could only go up from there. It was great how this episode played out having the Digidestined separated. Yamato was learning from his mistakes and he had room for growth. Joe continues to be a laughingstock but he is slowly wearing on me and he became adorable. Now that all eight DigiDestined are united, I just hope that Taichi’s screen time is limited and the focus is equally spread.
