Aniplex Japan Reveals ‘Omoi, Omoware, Furi, Furare’ Anime Feature Film DVD/BD Release Artwork

The home video release details begin to surface.

The plans for Io Sakisaka’s manga series Omoi, Omoware, Furi, Furare wrapped up last spring and went about launching into both a live-action and anime feature film track. The anime feature eventually was set for a September 18th, 2020 debut due to the pandemic. With that being launched successfully, Aniplex Japan has now revealed their home video release plans for the project. The film is set for an April 7th, 2021 debut where there will be four editions released for it:

  • BD LE: 7,800 yen
  • BD Reg: 4,800 yen
  • DVD LE: 6,800 yen
  • DVD Reg: 3,800 yen

While this is still a bit away, we’re starting to get some of the artwork for it in the way that Aniplex Japan tends to tease it out. We now have the main wrap for the release with illustration style below that I suspect is for the regular editions below. Their retail site doesn’t make it clear at the moment.

The limited-edition releases will have a main disc that’s identical to the regular versions but will have a bonus disc. There, it’ll have the special news notifications about the project and the home video release commercials, the BUMP OF CHICKEN music video, and the public specials about the film. It’s also set for a special box illustrated by Iio Sakisaka and a replica of the print pamphlet. Add in some postcards and a photo card and it’s a solid set.

The film has Tomihisa Kuroyanagi directing based on the screenplay by Erika Yoshida. Yuu Yamashita is handling the character designs with A-1 Pictures handling the animation production.

The full anime cast includes Marika Suzuki as Yuna Ichihara, Megumi Han as Akari Yamamoto, Sōma Saitō as Kazuomi Inui, Nobunaga Shimazaki as Rio Yamamoto, Kikuko Inoue, Hideyuki Tanaka, Aya Hisakawa, Kazuhiko Inoue, Shun Horie, Ayane Sakura, Kikuko Inoue and Hideyuki Tanaka play Akari’s parents, Aya Hisakawa and Kazuhiko Inoue play Yuna’s parents, and Shun Horie and Ayane Sakura as classmates.

The four leading live-action cast members are making cameos in the anime film. It looks like actors Takumi Kitamura and Eiji Akaso will pay high school boys visiting the school during the cultural festival and the film that’s shown then will have Minami Hamabe and Riko Fukumoto voice Chiyo and Ayuko playing some of the characters in the film-within-a-film.

BUMP OF CHICKEN will be performing the theme song for the film.

Takahiro Miki is directing the live-action film and A-1 Pictures is working on the anime film. The cast for the live-action film includes Eiji Akaso as Kazuomi, Minami Hamabe as Akari, Riko Fukumoto as Yuna, and Takumi Kitamura as Rio.

Plot Concept: Two girls whose stances on love are polar opposites; Yuna wants a love that’s like a dream. Akari thinks she can become better at love and is very realistic in her approach. The two heroines’ stories unfold beside two male main characters. Kazuomi doesn’t understand love. He asks, “What’s that, something tasty?” On the other hand, Rio won’t reject anyone who comes his way, as long as that person is cute.
