The folks at Bushiroad have a lot of projects out there that definitely make them a player in multiple markets. When they announce a new one it definitely warrants taking an interesting. They revealed at the start of the month their plans to announce a new original anime project with Joran: The Princess of Snow and Blood. With all the details in recently, Crunchyroll has now announced their pickup of the series for streaming with details to come as we get closer to the actual broadcast debut in Japan on April 6th, 2021.
The series will have Susumu Kudo directing it based on the scripts coming from Rika Nezu and Kunihiko Okada. Original character designs are done by Kano Komiyama.
The Japanese cast includes:
- Shouta Aoi as Makoto Tsukishiro
- Ayasa Itō as Asahi Nakamura
- Suzuko Mimori as Sawa Yukimura
- Raychell as Elena Hanakaze
- Chikahiro Kobayashi as Jin Kuzuhara
The series willthe opening theme song “Exist” by RAISE A SULLEN and ending theme song “Embrace of Light” by them as well.

Plot Concept: Set in an alternate history Japan in 1931, the Tokugawa shogunate was never abolished and the Meiji emperor never restored to power. The series will follow the activities of “Nue,” an organization of shogunate executioners who enforce government rule.
