While we knew that a Supergirl film has been on the docket for some time at Warner Bros., it looks like the character will make their first appearance in the Flash film that’s moving forward slowly. With that film focused on the multiverse and has ties to the CW TV shows through their Crisis on Infinite Earths bit, getting to know a version of Supergirl on the film side makes for some fun in coming up with new casting for it, especially as Melissa Benoist is finishing up her sixth and final season of the character for the network.
The role has gone to The Young and the Restless actress Sasha Calle who was one of among 425 that auditioned for the mystery role, not knowing what it character it was for until the ranks tightened up with those in contention. That was overseen by a number of people including Flash director Andy Muschiettie and D Film head Walter Hamada.
“I saw more than four hundred auditions. The US, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia. The talent pool was truly amazing and it was very hard to make a decision, but we finally found an actress who was destined to play this role,” said The Flash director Andy Muschietti who has a keen eye for discovering talent, in particular all the young actors from the first It movie.
