“Nadeshiko’s Solo Camp Planning”
What They Say:
Nadeshiko, a high school student who had moved from Shizuoka to Yamanashi, decides to see the famous, 1000 yen-bill-featured Mount Fuji. Even though she manages to bike all the way to Motosu, she’s forced to turn back because of worsening weather. Unable to set her eyes on her goal, she faints partway to her destination. When she wakes up, it’s night, in a place she’s never been before, with no way of knowing how to get home. Nadeshiko is saved when she encounters Rin, a girl who is out camping by herself. This outdoorsy girls story begins with this first encounter between Nadeshiko and Rin.

Ena is showing Nadeshiko pictures of her camping trip with Aoi and Chiaki. You know, the one where they almost froze to death. It’s a good thing that Rin called Sensei. Who knows what could have happened? Nadeshiko can relate. Rin has saved her a bunch of times. The girls decide to worship her as the Great Shimarin-sama, haha. Anyway, Ena has to go which leaves Nadeshiko and Rin alone in the library. Nadeshiko sees this as the perfect chance to ask Rin all about solo camping. How does she pick a place to camp? Well, she first looks up campsites on Glueglue Maps. Oh man, I love Glueglue Maps! Nadeshiko finds a nice place but it’s kind of deep in the mountains. Will her sister be willing to drive her there? Actually, she plans on taking the bus and walking there. She’s scared to tell her sister that she’s solo camping. I can understand that. If only she could drive a moped like Rin. Rin thinks it’s probably for the best. Who knows what trouble Nadeshiko would get into? She’s not wrong. Rin gives Nadeshiko a quick crash course on solo camping. I hope she paid attention!
Nadeshiko decides to spend the week doing research for her weekend solo camping trip. Hey, she was paying attention! That’s great. First things first, she has to tell her family. Surprisingly, they’re totally cool with it. Nadeshiko wasn’t expecting that. Heck, her sister even recommends a yakisoba place that she should visit. Nadeshiko spends the whole week preparing until finally, the weekend arrives. It’s time to go solo camping in Fujinomiya! Once she arrives, she gets distracted by the delicious aroma of yakisoba. But she must resist the urge to eat at this particular yakisoba place! She needs to check out the place her sister recommended first. She does make it there eventually but there’s a long line to get inside. That sucks! On the bright side, this place must serve delicious yakisoba if they have this many customers waiting. After a long wait, Nadeshiko finally makes it inside and orders the local specialty, shigure-yaki. Nadeshiko drools the entire time the chef is making it. I can’t blame her. It looks delicious!
Meanwhile, Rin has decided to go to Hayakawa for the weekend. She stops by Lake Harada Hot Springs and spots what seems to be Sakura’s car. It couldn’t be, right? Nope, it’s definitely hers. Rin spots Sakura walking down a trail. Suspicious! She follows her until she gets a text from Nadeshiko. She’s showing off the shigure-yaki she just ate. Rin doesn’t notice that Sakura has spotted her. Busted! She invites Rin to a nearby cafe for a drink. Rin is extremely nervous. What can she even talk about with Sakura? She remembers Nadeshiko saying that she likes Moped’s Journey and brings it up. Little does Rin know that she just opened up a can of worms. Sakura LOVES Moped’s Journey and starts nerding out.
After what was probably a lengthy conversation about Moped’s Journey, the girls decide to go their separate ways. Sakura does promise to have Nadeshiko bring all of the Moped’s Journey DVDs for her next time they see each other, haha. They both get a text from Nadeshiko at the exact same time. It seems like she’s having a lot of fun on her trip. The episode ends with Nadeshiko walking towards the campsite. Let’s hope everything goes smoothly for her so that Sakura and Rin don’t have to worry.
Nadeshiko’s first solo camping trip is officially underway! She prepared for it adequately so I’m sure everything is going to be fine. Still, you can’t blame Rin or Sakura for worrying about her. This is Nadeshiko we’re talking about after all! Speaking of Rin and Sakura, we don’t usually see those two alone together. It was no surprise that things were a bit awkward between them. Well, that was until Rin mentioned Moped’s Journey. Sakura probably didn’t shut up after that! It was fun seeing her geek out over the series. Rin may or may not regret her decision in the future. Now if you’ll excuse me, I must go find something delicious to eat. I blame this show for always making me hungry. I could go for some yakisoba right about now…
